SIPROTEC 7SA82

The SIPROTEC 7SA82 distance protection offers cost-effective and compact protection of lines in medium-voltage and high-voltage systems.

Its flexibility, coupled with the high-performing DIGSI 5 engineering tool, allows the SIPROTEC 5 7SA82 to offer future-oriented solutions for protection, control, automation, monitoring, and Power Quality (PQ) basic.

Basic Features

  • Distance protection for medium-voltage and high voltage applications
  • Tripping: 3-pole
  • Minimum tripping time: 19 ms
  • 6 independent measuring loops (6-system distance protection)
  • A number of distance-protection functions can be selected: Classic, reactance method (RMD), and impedance protection for transformers
  • Directional backup protection and various additional functions
  • Uses pulse detection method to detect transient ground faults
  • Adaptive power-swing blocking
  • Detection of current-transformer saturation with high accuracy for fast tripping
  • Fault Locator Plus function with inhomogeneous line sections and targeted automatic overhead-line section reclosing (AREC) to accurately identify fault location
  • Arc protection
  • Automatic frequency relief for underfrequency load shedding, taking the changed infeed conditions arising from decentralized power generation into consideration
  • Configurable power protection (active or reactive)
  • Directional reactive power undervoltage protection (QU protection)
  • Control, synchrocheck and switchgear interlocking protection
  • Reliable data transmission via PRP and HSR redundancy protocols
  • Extensive cybersecurity functionality (e.g. role-based access control (RBAC), protocolling security-related events, signed firmware or authenticated network access IEEE 802.1X)
  • Provides simple, quick and secure access to the device data via a standard Web browser to display all information, diagnostic data, vector diagrams, single-line diagrams, and device display pages
  • Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) for synchrophasor measured values and IEEE C37.118 protocol
  • Time synchronization using IEEE 1588
  • Enables powerful fault recording (buffer for a max. record time of 80 sec. at 8 kHz or 320 sec. at 2 kHz)
