SIPROTEC 7SA86
The SIPROTEC 7SA86 distance protection is specifically designed to protect lines.
Its modular structure and flexibility, coupled with the high-performing DIGSI 5 engineering tool, allows the SIPROTEC 5 7SA86 to offer future-oriented solutions for protection, control, automation, monitoring, and Power Quality (PQ) basic.

- A number of distance-protection functions can be selected: Classic, reactance method (RMD), and impedance protection for transformers

- Detection of current-transformer saturation with high accuracy for fast tripping
- Fault Locator Plus function with inhomogeneous line sections and targeted automatic overhead-line section reclosing (AREC) to accurately identify fault location

- Automatic frequency relief for underfrequency load shedding, taking the changed infeed conditions arising from decentralized power generation into consideration
- Configurable power protection (active or reactive)
- Directional reactive power undervoltage protection (QU protection)

- Up to 4 pluggable communication modules, usable for different and redundant protocols (IEC 61850-8-1, IEC 61850-9-2 Client, IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP, DNP3 serial and TCP, PROFINET I/O, and PROFINET I/O S2 redundancy)
- Reliable data transmission via PRP and HSR redundancy protocols

- Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) for synchrophasor measured values and IEEE C37.118 protocol

- Enables powerful fault recording (buffer for a max. record time of 80 sec. at 8 kHz or 320 sec. at 2 kHz)
